Tom Cochrane- Lunatic Fringe- Dallas 1989

From its release in 1979 on the Red Rider album As Far as Siam, “Lunatic Fringe ” was always a popular song on North American rock radio. However, in a post-9/11  as well as post-January 6th world, Tom Cochrane’s lyrics  about extremism, intolerance, gun violence, and terrorism, threatening from without and within, are now even more chilling. This performance is from my 1989 Q102 radio show  in a Dallas Mexican restaurant, no stage, no proper monitors, no lights, just feedback from the radio, with Tom Cochrane and guitarist Peter Mueller hittin’ it and gittin’ it. Incredible fire and passion, about as fundamental as rock gets.- Redbeard
