John Lennon’s First Wife Cynthia, Mother of Julian Lennon, Dies at 75

Cynthia Lennon, the first wife of Beatle John Lennon and the mother of singer/ songwriter Julian Lennon, has passed away of cancer according to Julian’s website. The report was confirmed by the BBC. At the insistence of Beatles manager the late Brian Epstein, both Cynthia Lennon and Ringo Starr‘s first wife, Maureen, purposely were all but invisible and unmentionable from the earliest days of the band’s Liverpool days up through the heights of worldwide Beatlemania popularity and media exploitation. During a stop with me In the Studio, Julian talked at length about his parents, as well as his own career and the unique challenges to it. Julian also performed the song “Saltwater (Runs in My Eyes)”, which seems appropriate to share here at this time. ( Thanks to our man in London, Patrick Moore) –Redbeard
