Little did they know when Levon Helm, Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel, Rick Danko, and Robbie Robertson released their second album, with the minimalist title The Band, that they were inventing the musical bedrock which would come to be known as Americana through the songs “Rag Mama Rag”,”The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down”,”Up on Cripple Creek“, and “King Harvest (Has Surely Come)“. The songwriter of them all and guitarist for The Band, Robbie Robertson, graces the microphone with me In the Studio  the week of September 16. –Redbeard
