Genesis- Abacab 45th Anniversary- Mike Rutherford, Phil Collins 8-31

Genesis was already a veteran English band by the time they released Abacab in September 1981. The progressive trio’s eleventh (!) studio album, Abacab was the result of two significant personnel changes, with first the exit of original singer/songwriter/frontman Peter Gabriel and then original guitarist Steve Hackett, resulting in better overall musical focus and dramatically more popularity than ever.
Genesis’s second #1 seller in their native UK and their best showing up until then in the US (#7), Abacab included “No Reply at All”, “Man on the Corner”, the tasty “Like It or Not”, and the crypticly-titled “Abacab”. Genesis lifers Mike Rutherford, Tony Banks, and Phil Collins all weigh in with some surprising insights here In the Studio for the double-platinum Abacab forty-fifth anniversary the first week of September. –Redbeard
