Billy Idol- Rebel Yell 40th Anniversary

Billy Idol joins me In the Studio  on the fortieth anniversary of Rebel Yell  to invoke the eleventh commandment: thou shalt have no idols before Billy! There was no indication from his days fronting English punk band Generation X that Billy Idol (christened William Broad) would be the most successful and, along with The Clash and The Police,  among the only original London punk rockers to cross over to mainstream multi-million selling sales. As Billy shares his unique story, you will hear him reveal details behind his 1981 cover of  Tommy James and the Shondells’ “Mony Mony” and the club hit “Dancing With Myself”, all from the surprise hit Don’t Stop  EP;  the true life inspiration for “White Wedding” from his eponymously-titled full album in July 1982; the Rebel Yell   album from November 1983  with “Rebel Yell”, the huge mainstream hit “Eyes Without a Face”, and “Flesh for Fantasy” ; and the 1986 Stax cover “To Be a Lover”. –Redbeard
