Charlie Daniels Band- The Devil Went Down to Georgia 1-13-79

The only thing bigger than the hat of the patriarch of Southern Rock, Charlie Daniels, was his heart, and anybody who was blessed to have spent the better part of a minute with the man will tell you that. Charlie Daniels  passed away at age 83 in July 2020.

“Give the Devil his due…” sang the big guy in the big hat long ago, but that was just in jest, as it was no secret that the gentle giant claimed the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior. Charlie Daniels told me that he had just finished writing “The Devil Went Down to Georgia“ before he and the Charlie Daniels Band performed it at their annual Volunteer Jam in Nashville on January 13, 1979, making this performance the first ever before a live audience. –Redbeard
