George Harrison- Best pt 2

“If you don’t know where you’re going, Any road will take you there…”- George Harrison

It was November 29, 2001 when George Harrison loosed this mortal coil and passed from this world (“The curse of nicotine!” he exclaimed to me). But clearly The Quiet Beatle had been on a spiritual journey the whole of his adult life and, at his transition, felt confident that the road he had chosen long ago guaranteed that he most definitely was going somewhere divine.

Here is a portion of my second classic rock interview with the former Beatle which focuses on his return to performing in England for the first time in over 25 years, on stage at London’s  Royal Albert Hall; the support of his longtime friend, Eric Clapton; and several examples of George’s delightful impish sense of humor, all the while sharing the stories behind “When We Was Fab” and “Got My Mind Set on You” from his popular Cloud Nine comeback; “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” and “Something” recorded Live in Japan with Clapton himself and his top-notch band backing George Harrison in spectacular fashion; and the posthumously released “Any Road”, “Rising Sun”, and an alternate “All Things Must Pass”. –Redbeard
