Led Zeppelin IV @55- Jimmy Page, Robert Plant 11-2

Everything musically apparent, promised, even hinted at on Led Zeppelin’s three previous albums was all gloriously fulfilled in November 1971 with the release of Led Zeppelin IV. Becoming in effect almost a “greatest hits” collection unto itself, Led Zeppelin IV contained the sonic slam of “Black Dog”,”Misty Mountain Hop”, and “When the Levee Breaks”; the juxtaposition of acoustic balladry evident in “The Battle of Evermore” and “Goin’ to California”; the sheer joyous abandon of “Rock and Roll”; and musical contrast of “light and shade” (as Jimmy Page describes it) on “Stairway to Heaven”.
Led Zeppelin mastermind guitarist, composer, arranger, and producer non-pareil Jimmy Page and singer/lyricist Robert Plant are my guests In the Studio on the fifty-fifth anniversary of a pillar of twentieth century rock, Led Zeppelin 4 the week of November 2! –Redbeard
