Paul McCartney- Live

... from Paul McCartney to The Pope, we couldn't help but both comment on the remarkable similarities in response that millions of attendees display at those two seemingly disparate gatherings. Who dares try to convince the pilgrims filing in, ages eight to eighty with stars in their eyes and a song (okay, three hundred songs) in their hearts, that this isn't a religious experience? Paul McCartney is my guest from backstage In the Studio.

Beatles- White Album pt2- Paul McCartney

Paul McCartney joins me In the Studio here in part two of the Beatles' "White Album" 55th anniversary to explore the songs "Birthday", Lennon's "Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except for Me and My Monkey", Paul's "Mother Nature's Son", one of three versions of "Revolution", the campy pally band arrangement on "Honey Pie", Lennon's "Cry Baby Cry", and the real inspiration behind the song which figured into the notorious Charles Manson multiple murder case,"Helter Skelter".

James Taylor- Something in the Way She Moves- Dallas 8-93

August 1993-Truly one of the greatest honors I have ever received was to have James Taylor sing a song to me . Like millions of others , I came of age at the time that James debuted on U.S.radio with the stunning "Fire and Rain" in 1970, but this gem from the earliest JT canon actually pre-dates his breakthrough by about 18 months .

Sir George Martin 1926-2016

Sir George Martin is a cherished gentle giant of 20th century Western culture. I cannot think of any person who was more influential, or more revered, in music. Universally loved and irreplaceable, I'm afraid. His next gig is out of this world…

John Lennon (10-9-40 to 12-8-80) Remembered by Paul McCartney

Like Mahatma Gandhi and the Reverend Dr.Martin Luther King jr. , deeply committed social reformers dedicated to peaceful change , John Lennon was assassinated December 8 , 1980 . I am reminded of a wall poster in the very early 1970s which chillingly showed the barrel of a gun pointed right between the viewer's eyes from a distance of about one inch . Underneath it stated simply , " Just because you have silenced a man does not mean you have converted him ." Do not be misled . The forces of evil manifested in intolerance , fear , power , and greed killed John Lennon . Mark Chapman was simply the unwitting trigger man . But like Gandhi , Dr. King , John & Bobby Kennedy , Anwar Sadat in the Mid East, and Benigno Aquino in the Philippines , John Lennon was unbowed to his worldly end in the belief that " all you need is love " . -Redbeard
