When Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble took the stage at the Austin Opera House in April 1984, their much-anticipated second album "Couldn't Stand the Weather" was about to be released. For "Cold Shot", Stevie invited his big brother Jimmie, then of the Fabulous Thunderbirds, to join them.

When Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble welcomed  Jimmie Vaughan to join them on stage April 15, 1984 at the Austin Opera House to help them perform "Cold Shot", Stevie's big brother was actually a bigger star then by virtue of anchoring the butt-rocking guitar slot in the Fabulous Thunderbirds.

Stevie Ray Vaughan- Best pt 2

As Double Trouble drummer Chris Layton told me of first experiencing Stevie Ray Vaughan’s extraordinary guitar talent from outside an Austin nightclub , I had to smile . Like Chris , I had not actually seen the young blues guitarist the first time I heard him play live , but the memory is burned into my mind . It was February 4 , 1984 as I was anchoring the live network broadcast interviews of the myriad of performers at the annual Charlie Daniels Volunteer Jam backstage at Nashville’s War Memorial Auditorium . Over ten years the Volunteer Jam had grown into an annual pilgrimage by the biggest names then in American rock music , featuring in one night the Charlie Daniels Band , the Marshall Tucker Band , Lynyrd Skynyrd , the Allman Brothers Band, Molly Hatchet , the Outlaws , plus Billy Joel ,Emmylou Harris , and Ted Nugent !

Doyle Bramhall- Legendary Texas Singer/Songwriter

"Big Doyle" Bramhall (so-called because his son Doyle II is an accomplished singer/songwriter/guitarist with the Arcangels and Eric Clapton) came to international acclaim when his songs "Change It","The House Is Rockin' ","Tightrope","Wall of Denial", and "Life By the Drop" were recorded by fellow Dallas native Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, as well as "Telephone Song" and "Long Way from Home" on Stevie 's last album "Family Style" with his brother Jimmie Vaughan. In tribute to this wonderful sweet man, here's my October 2007 exclusive interview with the late Big Doyle Bramhall.
