Paul McCartney- Here Today (for John Lennon)

Every year when December 8 rolls around it is a challenge as to how to observe the violent, senseless gun murder of John Lennon that day in 1980, to chronicle the worldwide psychic blow to a generation, while paying tribute to what he gave us as a lasting enduring legacy. This year Lennon’s mate-since-middleschool, Paul McCartney, made available a live intimate performance of a tender musical confessional “Here Today”, recorded in the Amoeba Records store in Hollywood back in June 2007. Imagine Paul singing this to Lennon, Linda McCartney, and George Harrison as McCartney reminds us that, even in the blessing of a long life, there’s a price to be paid missing dear friends and lovers. –Redbeard
