From its release in 1979 on the Red Rider album As Far as Siam, “Lunatic Fringe “ was always a popular song on North American rock radio. However, in a post-9/11 world, Tom Cochrane‘s lyrics about extremism, intolerance, gun violence, and terrorism, from without and within, are now even more chilling here on the song’s fortieth anniversary. This performance is from 1992 in a Dallas Mexican restaurant, no stage, no proper monitors, no lights, just feedback from the radio and Tom Cochrane and guitarist Peter Mueller hittin’ it and gittin’ it. Incredible fire and passion, about as fundamental as rock gets.- Redbeard
